My recent paintings celebrate flowers for their visual beauty while exploring their symbolism and meaning. Flowers are part of our celebrations and our grief. They convey love and joy, sorrow and sympathy, and have been embraced by women throughout history.
While I find inspiration in the natural world and it is the theme of my work, the process of painting also guides me. I focus on the energy of the colors, the evidence of the artist's hand in the brushstroke and the way those marks flow throughout the paintings.
Artist Background
Art has always been an important part of my life. I am a Connecticut artist who grew up in New York where my parents brought me to museums and shows and encouraged an appreciation of the arts. I went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History at SUNY Purchase where my passion for painting flourished. After college I had the great fortune of working at The Museum of Modern Art and then PaceWildenstein Gallery. I was immersed in a stimulating and creative environment where I was able to develop as an artist.
I live in Ridgefield, Connecticut with my husband and two children. My work has been featured in many area exhibitions and is represented in several private collections. Please view my resume for more details.
